Mark Bergfeld is a member of the National Executive Council of the National Union of Students (NUS),[1] spokesperson of the Education Activist Network[2] and is a prominent member of the Socialist Workers Party (SWP).[3] He is one of the leaders of the UK student demonstrations of November/December 2010. In January 2011 it was announced that he would be standing for the NUS Presidency as part of a united left slate.[4]
He has contributed to Socialist Worker,[5] Socialist Review[6] and International Socialism.[7]
He has been on television and radio on numerous occasions including ITV's Daybreak, Press TV's Big Story,[8] the BBC's The One Show, Channel 4 News[9] and BBC Radio 5 Live.[10]
He has been profiled in the Evening Standard,[11] The Daily Telegraph,[12] The Guardian[13] and various other international press such as Le Figaro[14] (France) and El Pais[15] (Spain).
Bergfeld holds a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and a Masters in Sociology from the University of Essex [16].
